PLN stands for Personal Learning Network. Common Sense Education (2017) states that a PLN is "any network you create to learn from and share ideas with others" (0:11). I wouldn't be the successful teacher that I am without the "team" who is supporting me and cheering me on each day. Now you may automatically think that this team includes my current building co-workers, but after taking a step back and thinking about my educational career I realized that the guidance comes from a variety of different people and groups in my life. As I personalized my own PLN I was able to see how lucky I am to have the support system and team to be there for me as an educator. From the school district I currently work for, my family, social media and Michigan State University, I have a network. While creating this map I realized how much support I have at my K-2 building within my current school district. Not only do all the branches draw my attention within this image but I can also back it up saying how much I felt supported within my first year of teaching. One weakness about my current PLN would be my family connections. With all the support that's at my finger tips such as co-workers and social media, I often don't make the connections with family members that are educators. Having the guidance as well as knowledge from a veteran teacher is something that I should use to my advantage. As I look at my map now, I think about how it will look in 5 years or 10 years. My network and support system seems to only grow over the years. Stay tuned! Follow along on my twitter: @misscook14 Resources:
