TE 803: Professional Role & Teaching Practice II: Social Studies, Spring 2019
Instructors: Dr. Maribel Santiago and Allie Whitford
*This course was taken during my year-long student teaching*
I took this course as an intern and it helped me to learn more about incorporating social studies into a variety of materials. We discussed the importance of scaffolding, differentiating instruction for students as well as working in hand with the Common Core State Standards when creating lesson plans and assignment for our students. With the support from my instructors, mentor teacher and colleague I was able to teach equitable, relevant social studies lessons to support the young learners in my room.

TE 804: Reflection & Inquiry in Teaching Practice II: Science, Spring 2019
Instructors: Alicia Alonzo and Christie Thomas
*This course was taken during my year-long student teaching*
As an intern I was able to create a science instructional sequence during the duration of the course. The phenomenas and big ideas that come with learning science can be challenging for young minds to grasp. Therefore, through the use of science talks, student learning activity data and diving into the science standards, we were able to provide explicit instruction to elementary learners.

CEP 810: Teaching for Understanding with Technology, Summer 2020
Instructors: Mary Wever and Nicole Zumpano
Teaching for Understanding with Technology has taught me about how to incorporate technology into my classroom using a variety of networks. Through the use of a personal website I was able to share my findings by writing blog posts for my readers. Included in each blog post is a variety of technology resources and readings that helped to support my findings and new ideas. I dove into learning what Technology Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) is as well as Professional Learning Networks (PLN) and 21st Century learning in action. This course challenged me to think about how I am preparing students for the future and how the use of technology can be a great tool to help support their learning goals and standards.

CEP 811: Adapting Innovative Technologies in Education, Summer 2020
Instructors: Edie Erickson and Alison Keller
CEP 811, Adapting Innovative Technologies to Education, has taught me about learning, failing and making. I learned about media consumption and the importance of copyright laws and media use. We also dove into Universal Design for Learning and Intersectionality and discussed taking down these barriers within my classroom. Lastly, I was introduced to a variety of tools to communicate with colleagues and to access feedback from other educators that can be useful as I move forward into the new school year.

CEP 812: Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice, Summer 2020
Instructors: Ron Houtman and Nicole Zumpano
CEP 812, Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice, challenged me to think deeper about a variety of my teaching aspects. We discussed the importance of asking questions and encouraging students to continue to ask questions throughout their educational careers. I also learned about problems of practice including well-structured, ill-structured and wicked problems. Specifically working on coming up with a solution to a wicked problem that I felt is applicable to my teachings. This class incorporated a variety of different technology tools to support our findings which will be useful skills that I can use in my own classroom.

CEP 822: Approaches to Educational Research, Fall 2020
Instructors: Michael Lachney and Matthew Schell
During this course we worked a lot with research and applying the different types of research to our educational careers. We specifically learned about quantitative, qualitative and humanistic research. With each of these units, we read, explored and designed to help us to better understand these types of research and were able to apply them into our own classrooms.

TE 846: Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners, Spring 2021
Instructor: Dr. Erin Jurand
TE 846 provided me with an experience where I could directly connect a learner in my classroom at the time to the studies I was completing for my masters program. This course provided me with the experience for working toward one polished literacy case study at the end of the semester. I learned more about how crucial it can be for young learners to intake essential literacy skills at a specific rate and was able to support a student in my room and provide her with the resources to help her succeed. Through the use of pre-assessments, lesson planning and post assessments, the case study provided me with valuable information to connect with my student and learn new skills to support future students in my room.

CEP 800: Learning in School and Other Settings, Summer 2021
Instructors: Ron Houtman and Chris Sloan
CEP 800, Learning in Schools and Other Settings, was a course that helped support the big idea of learning and how big of a role this idea can play in and out of classrooms. The course provided us with a weekly structured set up where we would explore, create and then share our findings. We discussed habits and worked on how to change certain habits, completed two creations where we took information from exploring and applied them to create a visual tool to share with others as well as worked to finalize a Theory of Learning over the course of the semester. The Theory of Learning helped to summarize all the information and new findings we gathered from exploring, creating and sharing.

CEP 807: Proseminar in Educational Technology, Summer 2021
Instructors: Dr. Matthew Koehler and Aric Gaunt
This course mainly focused on creating an online portfolio to come full circle as we finish up our masters program. CEP 807 gave me an opportunity to look back at all the work I completed will completing the MAET program, as well as virtually work with colleagues to support each other as we navigate finalizing our portfolios. Our finalized portfolios are a great tool to share with others as we progress through our educational careers.
